So I’m working all week to complete all my projects and tasks, so that I can have that all-too-elusive day off on Friday to get a full day of skiing in. I'm a skiing freak and love to hit the slopes of New Hampshire's Ragged Mountain either by myself or with my two daughters. Some people hate the winter...I welcome it.
But you know Murphy's Law. Come Thursday at 6 pm, there was still no word from a client on final approval for an email I needed to schedule for Friday morning so I could take the day off. I decided to just go home and check my email late at night before bed.
11:30 pm…still nothing. I went to sleep, fully thinking I would wake up with the approval in my inbox, allowing me to carve up the various trails of Ragged.
6 am comes quick and I check my email again. I can’t believe it...still nothing. But there’s no way I'm missing out on a perfect day of skiing and this approval has to come sometime. Thankfully, this is where technology comes in.
By 9:30 am, I had made my second run of the day and had just arrived at the top of Ragged for another run. I heard my smart phone beep, indicating a new email. Finally the approval I had been waiting on had arrived. But instead of heading down and asking anyone if they had a computer I could use, I simply moved to the side of the trail and took a seat. I logged into Sendlabs' web-based application and launched the first campaign from the peak of a mountain, a first for our company. With that out of the way, the rest of the day was better than I could have imagined.
Next time you are stuck waiting for a confirmation that may or may not come, just grab your phone and hit the slopes. I'll even give you a head start if you're on my trail.
